Karnataka State Open University, situated at Mysore, is a pioneer University in the area of distance education within India. Karnataka State Open University is recognized by the University of DEC (Distance Education Council), New Delhi. It is also an accepted member of the AIU (Association of Indian Universities), Delhi, and permanent member of the ACU (Association of Commonwealth Universities), UK, London, AAOU (Asian Association of Open Universities), Beijing, China, and has association with the COL (Commonwealth of Learning). 

VET (Virtual Education Trust) was established in 2001, with objective of offering modern education, giving special emphasis to Management and Information Technology through virtual as well as distance learning modes, development and management of the IT associated services, and working of overall society development, especially for benefits of needy groups through operating in the rural as well as remote areas. VET has started 18 new programs together with the KSOU. These consist of Management and IT programs like B. Tech (IT), BCA, MCA, MBA with the dual specialization and traditional programs like BA, B. Com, M. Com, and MA in different fields. 

Eligibility 

First Semester Admission

To get admission in the first semester, the candidate need to have BCA / BE / B.Tech / BIT / B.Sc (C.Sc.) / AMIE or has completed the graduation in one discipline, having 6-months of IT-Course experience or 1-year of IT-Experience. 

Second Semester Admission (Lateral Entry) 

Those who desire admissions in the 2nd semester must have completed their Graduation as well as 4 Semesters of the GNIIT. 

Third Semester Admission (Lateral Entry) 

Those desiring admission in the 3rd semester need to have graduation with PGDCA or PGDIT from a recognized university or the Certificate of DOEACC "A" Level or GNIIT or PGDCA or B.E. (C.Sc. /IT) from CAL-C.
