Mahatma Gandhi University was recognized in the year 1983 and opened by President of India scheduled on 26 October 1983. It was consequently been given full recognition by UGC (University Grants Commission). It is the member of both Association of Commonwealth Universities as well as Association of Indian Universities. The University headquarters is situated at the Priyadarshini Hills, around 12 km ahead of the Kottayam town. The University has 26 regional centers, 25 teaching as well as research departments, 11 University Colleges for Teaching Education, 5 information centers, 3 study centers, and 49 Off Campus educational Centers. There are around 108 colleges associated with the University. The University Library was first in India to become completely automated as predetermined by the U.G.C.
All the courses at Off Campus educational centers of School of Distance Education are governed by Rules for Private registration effective at Mahatma Gandhi University. Entrance tests are organized to give admissions to M.C.A. courses, according to the rules. The Controller of Examinations, Mahatma Gandhi University, will organize all the exams under School of Distance Education. There will not be any internal assessment section for courses of the School of Distance Education. Marks for every paper will be given out of 100. Courses must be completed within given period as stated in regulations relevant to the regular candidate.
Applications are called for admission for different courses under off-campus Academic Centers of the School of Distance Education. The guidelines are as per the UGC and according to University’s rules and regulations. Admission to all the courses is relied on eligibility criteria relevant to the University, for admission to MCA course, the students need to pass entrance test.
